Services
Since 1954 the Link Associates Leisure Services program has
been the primary source of recreation and leisure
programming in the greater Des Moines area for people with
disabilities. Link is the only
provider of comprehensive, year round, community-based adult
leisure programs and services are based on the
philosophy that constructive use of leisure time promotes
healthy human development. Experiences are strengthened by
our use of community resources and our promotion of
integrated activities. The
program employs Certified Recreation Therapists to design,
implement, and supervise program options for participants as
well as part time recreation aids, and a corps of volunteers
to assist participants in programs/activities.
The mission
statement of Leisure Services is:
“Providing
opportunities to individuals with disabilities for
the development of an independent and healthy lifestyle
through leisure and recreation.”
